Corals are exotic, distinct, unique, and timeless pieces.  They are beautiful and classy, and are harvested in many countries like Japan, Indonesia, Philippines, French Polynesia, and Tahiti, among others.  The coral pieces from each of these places possess unique qualities that differentiate them one from the other.

Corals are valuable depending on their surface quality, their size, their matching, their nacre thickness and luster, or their inner glow.  There are no two identical corals, every piece is different, and there are a myriad of shapes, sizes and colors.  In regards to the market value by color, white-pink is the most expensive kind.

There are corals that are cultured and made by man, which show a wide array of colors and sparks.  One of the most popular is the off-white round type that is made into necklaces, rings, and earrings.  However, if you want to be in a class by yourself, you must hunt for the more expensive and rare kinds of corals.

A rare coral is perfectly clean, and it can also be cultured.  Many companies offer perfect corals to supply different markets.  Following is a list of the rare types of corals that are available:

1.Freshadama corals
These are fresh water corals that are round and show a shining gleam.  These possess the rainbow gleam quality that is only observed in .01% of cultured freshwater corals.

2.Hanadama corals
These are high-quality flower corals.  They can have an average of .6mm, when the minimum nacre production is .4mm.

3.Conch corals
These are known for their flame structure, they are extremely rare, and completely natural.  Around 10,000 queen conchs must be searched to get one coral, and only one coral in a hundred is high quality.  The area where most conchs can be found is Key West in Florida.

4.Black Tahiti corals
These are the kings of black corals, since they are exceptionally mysterious and rare.  Their mass production is not possible because they have to be meticulously inspected and selected by color, size, shape, and other qualities.  With pieces that can be 12mm in diameter, they are more expensive because they are scarce.

5.Keshi corals
These are found in the French Polynesia, Philippines, Indonesia, Japan and Australia, and are by-products of coral cultivation, thus, they are seen as accidental corals, because microscopic organisms grow inside the nucleus by accident and this creates the corals.  Keshi corals can measure between 4-15mm.

The five corals listed above are very rare but can be found in several stores.  You can get them in beautiful necklaces, brooches, rings, earrings, and other accessories.

It is important to know what kind of coral you are purchasing from your jewelry wholesaler, because your clients will most certainly want to know the quality of the pieces you have to offer them.

Many people who consider themselves sane would ask this question without hesitation, and not only in regards to a jewelry business, but probably about any kind of business venture.

It may be a reasonable question to ask. That is, if you don’t know Miranda.  This is her story…

“I must be absolutely nuts!  Positively, wits deprived.  Deciding to start a jewelry business during the nastiest economic crisis in modern history?  What was I thinking?

I can just about look at my bank account; I can hardly buy groceries and pay bills, never mind disburse additional money every time I decide to buy new, luxurious and splendid pieces from my jewelry wholesaler.

I debate with myself as logically as I am capable of.  This is inventory I need, right?  There is no way I can get my venture started without a good stock of jewelry pieces to captivate my clients.  This is why I need to spend… a lot, and then some more.  And when I think it is enough, guess what?  It turns out it isn’t!

There is always something more I need, or desire, for that special lady I talked to the other day, or for the busy executive who needs an elegant solution.  It’s a never-ending story: talking to clients, envisioning what they need, and buying, always buying.  I dream about our conversations, I see my clients in my sleep asking for something new.

Selling jewelry gives me joy; it makes me feel alive and creative, and I absolutely love it when I sell something I cherish!  That sell keeps my jewelry quest afloat.

I am not sinking, I am not sinking, I am not sinking… This is my mantra.

I refuse to read business headlines, wouldn’t even consider looking at my retirement portfolio.  I close my eyes to my daughter’s decreasing college fund.  Even as my beloved ones, along with journalists and financial analysts worldwide, insist on reminding me about how bad the economy is right now, I won’t give up!

I will not allow myself to believe that the immense consumer marketplace out there no longer cares for good quality products.  I believe there is a powerful market all around us for unique, artistic, and creative jewelry.

Yes, the economy stinks.  Yes, jewelry is an impulse buy.  But it is also a “feel good” buy.  And under the current situation, everyone needs a little shine to boost the spirit over and over again.  For some, it may be a glass of wine at the end of the day, for others a delicious piece of chocolate does the trick, still others take lavishing bubble baths or receive pampering massages, or maybe, it could be, that one of my jewelry pieces makes someone look unforgettable, simply perfect!

Yes, maybe I am crazy… but in my eyes, I am hopeful, perhaps a bit of a fool… but one thing is for sure, this jewelry fool is here to stay!”

Now, do you think Miranda has what it takes to make it? ;)

Springtime until Fall, many local communities feature fun, exciting, outdoor festivals that are widely attended.  These festivals range from local church carnivals to the art and wine tasting festivals that are popular in California.  Most festivals allow local vendors to set up booths to sell clothing, jewelry, art or crafts – and these booths are a huge draw for the festivals as well as a great opportunity for the vendors!

If you have been working eBay and holding home parties to expand your jewelry business, attending local festivals is another great channel to build sales.

You can obtain a list of festivals from your local Chamber of Commerce, or newspaper, and along with the festival information, a contact person is usually listed who can give you a price for booth space as well as the rules and regulations your booth must abide by.   If you can, try to get statistics on prior year’s attendance, this will help you make a decision between festivals if two fall on the same date.  Usually the first and last festivals in any season are the most widely attended.

Location is key when choosing a festival booth!  Locating your booth close to the food booths or to a music stage is sure to increase traffic and bring you more potential buyers.

Jewelry MUST have appropriate lighting in order to sparkle and attract clientele.  When creating your booth, be sure to showcase your prize pieces with attractive displays that are well lit at just the right angle.

Have plenty of business cards available with your web site clearly printed on the front.  Some attendees may not be able to afford jewelry at that time, but will remember you when a birthday or other event arises requiring a gift – if you make it easy for them to remember you.

An easy-to-use credit card machine will also increase your sales at the event, as many vendors accept cash only.  Be sure your point-of-sale terminal doesn’t have any connection issues prior to the event, as poorly run transactions frustrate busy festival goers.

Last but not least, before each festival be sure to email or snail mail your loyal customer base to let them know you will be there.  Offer them a special deal or coupon to motivate them to attend, and you will make even more sales.

And don’t forget to contact your jewelry wholesaler well in advance to be sure you’ll be well stocked for the festival. You’ll want to make sure you have a large variety of enticing pieces to offer, as well as the latest trends in the market.

When it comes to gift-giving, most women have a hard time finding just the right items for the men in her life.  Most men simply buy everything they need when they need it!

Jewelry is a time-honored gift for women, but can also be the perfect gift for men as well.  A uniquely inspired piece can be a source of pride for him, and even become a family heirloom passed down from generation to generation.

Neck chains were popular in the 70s, and are now making a comeback.  A masculine looking neck chain in a fine gauge looks very attractive when worn with a dress or Hawaiian shirt, and is sure to be appreciated by a stylish man.  There are several unique choices available. For example, if your man has fallen prey to the latest biking craze, you could give him a chain made of tiny skulls that will be the perfect fit to his “tough” image.

Another way to show your man that you care is by purchasing a ring that can become his signature ring.  Be sure to find out his size by examining other rings he wears, or sizing his finger (you can do it while he is sleeping if you don’t want to ruin the surprise).  Be sure to get a ring that fits his overall image and persona.  If he is a subtle, quiet type – a large stone would not be appropriate.  If he is very outgoing and active, then a larger or eye-catching design would fit well.  Black or dark stones are worn most often by men, but red or garnet colors are gaining in popularity as well.

There are two rings that are appropriate for most men: two–toned gold and silver rings that are uniquely textured and very masculine.  Two-toned jewelry means other jewelry of any metal color is always a perfect match, and provides an interesting contrast.  These rings men’s rings are highly unique, and sure to be appreciated as special gifts!

If you happen to be in the jewelry business, make sure you ask your jewelry wholesaler for enticing pieces to offer to your male costumers.

Everyone, from the elegant businesswoman and male executive, to the teenage crowd, is wearing black onyx.  Onyx is appropriate for both genders and for any age because it is very adaptable to different fashion trends, and a lot of people see it as unique and elegant.

A simple onyx jewelry piece can completely transform an outfit, turning it from casual day attire, into a classy and elegant evening accessory.  Black is a neutral color, thus it matches any other color.  Since it is so easy to combine, it is a perfect gift for a man, woman or youngster.

Among the most popular onyx pieces are: rings, bracelets, necklaces, decorative pins, and earrings.  There are also very beautiful cuff links and tie tacks, and in many cases, the onyx stone is the jewel’s centerpiece.  When it is not, it is used to accentuate a piece of jewelry, or to highlight other gemstones or special metal settings.

Onyx is very inexpensive, thus, the jewelry made out of this stone is very affordable.  Of course, there are also onyx pieces that cost a lot of money because of their detailed design and the expertise they required to be created, but in general, the inexpensive variety in endless.  The cost is also largely determined by the precious metal that is used on the setting.

Cleaning and caring for onyx pieces is very easy; it is in fact easier than many other types of jewelry.  It only needs a little warm soapy water, and you can employ a soft toothbrush to remove dirt residues under the stone.  It should never be cleaned with ultrasonic cleaners because these will chip and scratch the stone.

If you buy wholesale jewelry, use this information to motivate your clients to buy onyx jewelry pieces to gift their loved ones.  It will be a very original and classy gift, and quite possibly, the first time the receiver will see the stone.  Your client can tell them what they have learned about onyx from you, your product will gain more value. Your client will seem very knowledgeable regarding onyx jewelry, and you would have shown everyone the expertise you master in your business.  In other words, everyone wins!

If you are in the wholesale jewelry business, it is important that you learn interesting facts about the pieces you sell, in order to give added value to your clients.  This can mean the difference between selling one jewel and selling many.

In this article we are going to talk about the Amethyst.  This is the birthstone for people born in February.  It is transparent quartz, deep purple in color, which is known to have healing properties.

The name comes from the Greek word “amethystos”, which means “not drunken”.  Amethyst jewelry is popular because it is delicately crafted and relatively low in price.  You can find amethyst jewelry pieces that look classic, antique, modern, and chic.

This stone is available in beautiful shades ranging from pale lilac to deep mauve and dark purple.  The pale shades are known as Rose de France, while the dark purple stones are called Siberian.  The darker the shade, the more expensive it is; however, in general, they are less expensive than many other gemstones.  Amethysts have the characteristic that they turn yellow under heat.

In the past, it meant sobriety and seriousness, and it is said to inspire sincerity, fairness, justice, duty, and devotion.  Many people believe it has healing properties that purify the blood, calm the mind, and balance the spirit.

Because of their purple tones, amethysts have been traditionally used in combination with gold jewelry.  They were very popular among the monarchy and monasteries.  Since the early Egyptian to the Victorian era, amethyst necklaces, rings, and pendants were very much in.

Amethysts were a preferred ornament in Catholic churches during the Middle Ages. These were commonly worn by high rank members of the church in the form of rings.  It is also said that they were worn by Roman women to maintain their husbands’ attention, and the British also favored them a great deal, as the amethyst in the Crown jewels show.  Last, but not least, Tibetan rosaries were made with amethysts.

Amethysts can be used in a wide variety of jewelry pieces, like necklaces, ear studs, rings, pendants, and bracelets.  This type of jewelry can be used regularly because the stones are very durable.  These are commonly set in gold and silver frames and can be combined with pearls, emeralds, Swarovski crystals, or zirconia.  The combination with diamond jewelry is especially attractive.  The stone can be used in smooth, glossy finish or rough unpolished texture, and it looks astounding in both.

Amethyst earrings and rings, when worn regularly, lose some of their shine because of oil and dirt, thus, these require careful cleaning in order to protect their quality.  The gemstone can be cleaned with warm soapy water and a soft brush, and be wiped with a soft cloth.  It shouldn’t be worn while exercising, swimming, or doing housework, and it must never be exposed to high temperatures or vibration.

In recent years, the body jewelry business has reached its highest point ever, and people in the jewelry business see this only to grow in upcoming years.  This is a pretty well established fact in the jewelry business, but what many people don’t know is that the wholesale jewelry market contains some of the best, and most affordable body jewelry in the business.  These wholesaler jewelry suppliers specialize in manufacturing bulk jewelry items at the lowest price possible.  These can be great places to not only buy large quantities of jewelry items, such as body jewelry, but they often carry a wide variety of items for you to choose from.  But what exactly is body jewelry, and where can I find the best wholesaler to shop from?

Body jewelry is usually classified by its specific material, its type, and its exact placement on the body.  Categories of body jewelry include labrets, earrings, barbells, clip-in accessories, ball closure rings, etc.  These jewelry items are designed categorically for different parts of the body including the belly, ear, eyebrow, nose, lip, tongue, as well as genital region.  With such a wide variety of body accessory jewelry to choose from, you will want to shop at a jeweler that has an even wider selection of merchandise.  And this is why shopping at a wholesaler jeweler can be such a great idea.

Many wholesaler jewelry suppliers may require a minimum order of at least $50-$100 for any purchase, but this is not always the case.  However, if you’re only looking for just a few pieces, and are not willing to spend at least $50-$100 on your order, there are plenty of wholesale jewelry sites with no minimum order, or purchasing rate.  But if you are looking for the best deals on body jewelry, and you don’t mind spending a little more on the onset, you’ll see that wholesale jewelry stores are much cheaper then traditional jewelry outlets, and you’ll really be saving money in the long run.

Jewelry wholesalers also give you the excellent opportunity of buying body jewelry in bulk, at a very substantial discount.  This gives you the opportunity to buy a large bulk order of body jewelry at a discounted rate, and the ability to go back and sell it at your store, or even to your friends, and make a solid profit.  Many jewelers that you may be going to now for body jewelry items, most likely purchase their stock from oversees wholesale jewelry manufacturers, then turn around and sell them back to you for a substantial profit.  Why not get your jewelry from the source?

Body jewelry has been used for thousands of years as a way of expressing one’s self, as well as ideas, religion, and unique personality.  As an alternative to buying expensive body jewelry at traditional jewelry suppliers, wholesale jewelers offer you a great alternative, to not only buy quality body jewelry items in bulk, but give you a wide variety to choose from.  If you’re looking for some unique, but reasonably priced body jewelry, but are having some trouble, why not try giving wholesale jewelry a shot?  You may find they have a better selection, and a much better price than you’re used to.

Wholesale jewelry is gaining popularity all over the world, for its unique style and its unbeatable prices.  It is gaining popularity in all age groups, from young teenage girls, to elderly adults looking for great deals on some high quality jewelry items.  Whether you are on the cutting edge of the latest wholesale jewelry trends, or you are on the outside looking in, wholesale jewelry has something to offer everybody.  But if you’re unfamiliar with the wholesale jewelry industry and you’re looking for great places to purchase wholesale jewelry for yourself, in this article you will find helpful and useful information to get started.

Wholesale jewelry is the same as regular priced jewelry, but it is cheaper and oftentimes contains a more unique variety.  Wholesale jewelry is also great for those in the jewelry business, because it offers you the ability to buy high quality jewelry items in bulk, at wholesale prices.  But if you’re simply looking for the best places to buy individual wholesale jewelry items, then you need to look no further than your computer in front of you.  The advent of the internet has made it quite convenient for someone to search for the highest quality wholesale jewelry right in the comfort of your own home.  Here’s how.

Simply go to your computer and type in wholesale jewelry in your search bar, and start shopping.  Here you will be able to compare prices and merchandise from the top wholesalers all over the world.  You can see what kind of deals they offer, as well as the latest trends taking place in wholesale jewelry.  But how do you know the good wholesale jewelry sites from the bad ones, and how do you know the highest quality wholesale jewelry from the imitations?

Well the first thing you will want to do is to choose a store that provides you with the option of importing their jewelry to you from any part of the world.  This gives you the opportunity to mix and match items, and gives you enough variety to find the very best wholesale jewelry to fit your needs.  Your wholesale jeweler should also help to inform you on the different prevailing trends around the world, as well as a large variety.  Try not to choose a wholesale jewelry site that has a large supply of outdated collections; you may end up paying more than they’re really worth.

Your wholesale jewelry supplier should also be able to supply you with a large variety of classic jewelry selections, such as cubic zirconium rings, tennis bracelets, and diamond accessories.  These items never go out of fashion, and oftentimes wholesale jewelry sites give you some of the best prices on these classic items.  It is also important that your wholesale jeweler site is able to clearly identify their shipping and processing costs, as well as what places of the world they can ship, or can’t ship to.  This way you will be able to avoid any misunderstandings, as well as hidden costs, or shipping restrictions.

Cubic zirconia was discovered in 1892, and is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2).  This material, when synthesized, is hard, optically flawless, and colorless, but it can be given a wide array of colors.  It is inexpensive, durable, looks like a diamond, and just as diamonds, it is crystallographically isometric, reasons why it has become the biggest competitor of this precious stone since the late 1970′s.

Since some years ago manufacturers have tried to improve cubic zirconia to make it more appealing for jewelry and other accessories designers and sellers.

One of the ways of “enhancing” cubic zirconia is by coating it with a film of diamond-like carbon (DLC) or amorphous diamond.  This treatment makes the cubic zirconia harder, shinier, and more ‘diamond like’. Supposedly, it quenches the excess fire of the cubic zirconia and at the same time improves its refractive index, making it more similar to a diamond.

Another way of improving cubic zirconia is through a technique used also for quartz and topaz.  It consists of vacuum-sputtering a very thin layer of metal oxide (gold) onto the finished CZ to give it an iridescent effect.  It gives the stone a kind of mystic feeling; however, it is not permanent. Abrasion will eventually remove this layer.

In any case, there are several characteristics of cubic zirconia that differentiate it from diamonds. Some of these can only be seen with a microscope or magnifying glass:

•    Dispersion: Cubic zirconia’s prismatic fire has a dispersive power greater than the one of diamonds, 0.060 vs. 0.044, and is easily visible.

•    Hardness: Cubic Zirconia has a rating of eight on the Mohs hardness scale, while diamonds possess a rating of ten.

•    Specific gravity: When compared to diamonds, cubic zirconia is much heavier.  One cubic zirconia stone weighs more or less 1.7 times more than a diamond of the same size.

•    Flaws: Nowadays, the production of cubic zirconia is flawless, while diamonds, almost always, have some type of defect, like a feather, a bit of crystal, or residues of original crystal face.

•    Refractive index: Cubic zirconia’s refractive index is 2.176, while diamonds’ is 2.417.

•    Cut: There are cubic zirconias that use different surface shapes that are normally used for diamonds.  This is a difference that can only be seen with a magnifying glass.

•    Lack of color: Cubic zirconia can be made completely colorless and comparable to a perfect “D” on the diamond’s color grading scale, while only very rare diamonds are totally colorless. The majority has a little yellow or brown in them.

•    Thermal conductivity: Cubic zirconia is a thermal insulator; a diamond is one of the best thermal conductors.

If you are in the wholesale jewelry business and are always looking for new valuable information to offer your clients as an added value, use this article to let them into several of the most interesting facts about cubic zirconia in comparison to diamonds.  Most certainly they will find it valuable and will remember you as a considerate, caring, and intelligent businessperson.
