For those who prefer a different look from traditional yellow gold, white gold can be the answer. White gold, like all colors of gold is an alloy, or a mixture of gold and other metals.  Because the alloys that are added to make white gold are actually grayish in color, white gold is often plated with a metal called rhodium which is very white.

Rhodium was first used in the early 30s to plate silver flatware to keep it shiny without constant polishing. It wasn’t really until after the Second World War when advances in technology produced a means of coating jewelry with very thin layers of rhodium, that it became more widely used in jewelry making. From there, it was a quick step to plating jewelry of all kinds.  Rhodium is a very expensive metal, and this is often reflected in the price of the piece.

Rhodium is not a very malleable metal so it is never or at least very seldom used on its own in jewelry making.  For this reason, you should be skeptical of any item advertised as solid rhodium.  For one thing, it would be very expensive, so is not likely to be used on its own in wholesale costume jewelry.  It does however, due to its reflective qualities, make your white gold pieces really shine!

One of the best things about rhodium is the fact that it is hypoallergenic so it won’t turn your finger green.  Another interesting technique that some people enjoy is having an old yellow gold ring plated in rhodium for a whole new look.

One disadvantage of rhodium plating is that it will wear off over time.  How long it takes to wear is really a matter of lifestyle and the kind of wear your ring is exposed to.  Always try to remove your rings if you work a lot with your hands.  Any activity where your rings rub against other surfaces will make the plating wear off faster. Even your hands rubbing on the steering wheel when you drive can have an effect on the wear. Re-plating is easily done, however so you can keep your jewelry looking new. Some jewelers recommend re-plating every couple of years.

It is not recommended that you clean rhodium-plated jewelry with chemicals of any kind as this can accelerate the wearing off process.  A bit of mild detergent and water or a soft polishing cloth are all you need to keep your ring or other pieces sparkling.

Just because your budget doesn’t allow you to wear diamonds, doesn’t mean you can’t have classy jewelry.  Many jewelry wholesalers are now providing elegant cubic zirconia rings that look just like the real thing to the retail and online stores where you shop.

One of the reasons that cubic zirconias are hard to tell from diamonds is that they can be cut in the same styles, which in turn means they can be designed in the same types of settings.  When you are considering the design of your ring, it is important to choose a cut as well as a setting that suits you and your lifestyle.

A cubic zirconia is as equally well-suited to a striking solitaire as it is to a cluster setting with many stones.  Don’t make the mistake of thinking that you should cut costs on the setting because it isn’t a real diamond.  If anything, you should be sure that the setting is of above average quality and the design even more striking, so they can enhance the beauty of the cubic zirconia.  If you are considering a cubic zirconia engagement ring, one of these cuts is sure to be what you’re looking for.

Emerald
The Emerald cut is sometimes also referred to as a Radiant cut.  The emerald cut dates well back into jewelry making but it started to lose popularity in the early 1970s and it started being called the Radiant cut at this time.  It is a rectangular shape with just a few basic cuts into the stone.  As a result, it may not be the most sparkling of cuts but its shape alone gives it a very classy, elegant look.

Brilliant
The round brilliant cut is one of the most popular for solitaire rings.  The angles of the cut produce maximum refraction of light so hence the name brilliant.  Its round shape and polished edges give it a brilliance that is hard to beat.

Princess
The Princess cut is an interesting cut in that it is a really a combination of both step cuts and brilliant cuts which together produce a beautiful design with maximum sparkle.  The large square shape is considered the most traditional by some.

Marquis
A Marquis cut is a very elegant, long, slender stone that is pointed at both ends and appears somewhat rounded in the center.  Longer marquis cuts are best suited to long fingers, but a marquis can be cut shorter if need be.

Pear/Teardrop
The pear or teardrop shape provides both the sparkle and brilliance of a round cut and the longer design of the marquis cut.  It is a little less common so if you’re looking for something a little different, you may prefer this shape.

Other cuts such as heart and oval, as well as new cuts that are being designed all the time are options you have when choosing your cubic zirconia jewelry.

Nothing sets off an elegant “little black dress” like a piece of simple, but high quality silver jewelry!  Finding good quality silver wholesale jewelry is like finding a gold mine of style and sophistication – at costs that won’t break the bank.

Gold jewelry has always been more plentiful than sterling silver – which has elevated silver jewelry to a place of distinction amongst those who understand fashion and style.

Silver complements most accent pieces – whether they are scarves, belts, or other jewelry.  Silver does represent a “cool” tone, so it works especially well with dark navy blue, black, burgundy, and red.

A high profile shine on your silver accent jewelry helps to accentuate the elegant effect it provides.  Using a good quality silver polish or silver polishing cloth will help to keep your jewelry in tip-top shape.

Make sure that your jewelry is also in proportion to your shape, and the style of your clothing.  Remember – “less is more” – a simple and elegant shape such as a Celtic emblem or floral design can become a focal point for a scoop neck, dark but flowing silk dress or shirt.

A simple pair of silver earrings with a swept-back hair style can also present a very high –class, modern look.  Often, the only accessory that is needed is these earrings, which can be very simple and classic in shape.

Silver backings make a wonderful contrast to certain gemstones as well, like black obsidian, opals, garnets, and amethysts.  In general, cool colored stones as well as red stones look stunning against a silver background.   Manmade stones such as crystals and cubic zirconia also look great against high quality sterling silver.

In general, silver settings and jewelry are making a huge comeback in the fashion world.  It is highly fashionable to pair simple, elegant and sleek silver ensembles with any aspect of your wardrobe – evening, classic or workday fashions.

As exotic as it sounds, there is really no such thing as rose gold.  For that matter, gold itself is not simply gold, it is an alloy.   Gold by itself is much too soft to be made into jewelry, so it is mixed with other elements to give it both its color and its strength.  Since man has, throughout history, favored the color we associate with gold, it is most commonly made with the right balance of silver and copper to give it that color.

In the early 19th century, the Russian ballet had a great effect on all kinds of things from clothing, to art and music, and also jewelry.  Everyone wanted to imitate the bold colorful costumes and designs of the ballet.  It was during this period that rose gold was invented to provide a new look in jewelry.  For that reason, you may sometimes hear rose gold be referred to as Russian gold.

Because its color can vary in intensity, it is also sometimes called pink gold or red gold.  The reddish tone in rose gold is simply a result of how much copper is in the mixture of the alloys.  More copper means the gold will have a deeper red color.

The fact that rose gold contains less pure gold usually means it will also carry a lower price tag.  A great variety of wholesale costume jewelry is available in rose gold both in rings and other pieces such as earrings, bracelets and pendants.  Perhaps because of its colorful nature, it seems to be very popular with the hip-hop set and the jewelry they prefer to wear.

Although not related to gold at all, rose gold is a term also used in the music industry to describe the finish inside some instruments.

Due to the date of its first use, rose gold is often found in vintage pieces that collectors may be selling.  While they may have greater value because they are vintage items, do not be mislead by vendors who proclaim rose gold to be something rare and therefore very expensive.

There is no question that a rose gold ring or other piece of jewelry is unique.  Many jewelry lovers feel that the subtle tones of rose gold set off the sparkle of diamonds or cubic zirconia so much better than regular gold, and there is no question that the softer tones give it a natural marketing edge.  After all, rose and pink sound so much more romantic than yellow or white, don’t you think?

If you are looking for an inexpensive, but elegant gift for Mother’s Day, you might want to consider wholesale jewelry.  You can find wholesale jewelry stores almost anywhere, but the best place to find them is on the internet. There are literally thousands of wholesale jewelry stores all over the internet.  However, when buying wholesale jewelry, especially off the internet, there are things you need to watch out for.

Many people don’t know but there is a large difference between online jewelry stores and online wholesale jewelry stores.  Online jewelry stores sell jewelry at retail prices, even if they claim that the price is discounted.  Wholesale jewelers sell jewelry at wholesale prices, not discount prices.  This means that not only will you receive much cheaper deals on jewelry, but you will also have the ability to buy in bulk.   Buying wholesale jewelry can be a great idea if you are looking for an affordable, but special gift this Mother’s Day.

Make sure when dealing with wholesale jewelry companies that you are buying the real thing, and not just some cheap imitation.  There are many wholesale jewelry companies that will advertise that their jewelry is authentic and top quality, but it is really not.  For instance, beware of red flag words like “gold plated” or “realistic”.  These are often tell tale signs that the jewelry is less than perfect quality, and is being sold at a wholesale rate for a reason.  This is usually an indication that the jewelry isn’t gold at all, and most of the stones are probably fake.

The first thing you need to do, before finding that perfect piece of jewelry for your mom for Mothers Day, is to do some quality research.  It is very important that you always do some research first, especially when dealing with wholesale jewelers to make sure they have the right kind of quality you’re looking for.  You can find plenty of excellent fine wholesale jewelry on the internet if you just know where to look.  Make sure that they have an excellent selection and their quality is second to none.  Quality is everything when shopping for wholesale jewelry, and the quality is out there, you just have to know where to find it.  If you’re looking for a suitable present for next Mother’s Day, and you want to get something nice, but yet within your price range, wholesale jewelry is definitely the way to go.

A big part of successfully selling jewelry is in the way it is displayed before customers.  Either the display draws attention towards your shiny pieces or potential customers pass it without even noticing.

Presenting jewelry to the public is an art, one that requires the right balance between style and moderation, one which should put your creativity to the test.

Every jewelry display should reflect the style and personality of the jewels as well as of the potential customers.  Utilize creative props, backgrounds and textures that represent everything your buyers like and desire.  You can get ideas from fashion magazines, antique stores and trendy clothes boutiques, to create your own original winning display.

No jewelry display should excel over the jewelry you are offering.  Remember that the winning card is the product itself; the display should basically complement its shine.  Leave room and make it easy to admire each piece without overwhelming the customers with a lot of stuff around it.  You can create an attractive and interesting corner display to add to the jewelry being displayed on neat cases, gift boxes, trays, busts or racks.

In the same way, any material you select for your props and background should allow for the jewelry to show up against it.  Look for materials that create a contrast with each jewelry piece and make it stand out from the display.

Be careful and resist the temptation to create a rainbow display.  Aim for a unified and professional look by choosing an overall design scheme.  Select up to three main colors and three main textures, and play with them to create an attractive flow.  This will make the jewelry look attractive and valuable, transforming your display into a kind of mini boutique.

It is vital to give visual interest to your jewelry display.  Play with creating different heights by using different objects, and with placing the pieces at different angles to create movement and dynamism.  Think about mounting some posters displaying photos of your jewelry, and even better if there is a person wearing the piece, it will make it more real and appealing.  You can ask your jewelry wholesaler for some attractive options.

Create a display that is easily transportable; with durable and lightweight materials to withstand continuous travelling, that is compact enough to fit into a bag or trunk, and very practical to ensure it can be set up rapidly and effortlessly.  Efficiency is a big part or your jewelry business’ success.  If the display can be set up fast, without sacrificing quality and you will grab more customers.

Always on the same line of efficiency, keep your displays pre-loaded with jewelry to go out the door or to present your product in a professional way at home, as soon as an opportunity arises.  For example, if you use rotating earring racks, load them fully at home, put them inside a plastic trash bag along with several no-tarnish strips, tie the bag shut, and put it in a plastic wastebasket container inside your closet.  Do this for other displays too and be ready to go!

Do not neglect the lights that will make your jewelry shine and sparkle to tempt your customers.  Always have portable and stylish lamps available for your displays.  Do not forget extra light bulbs and extension cords.

Make sure that as soon as customers pass by your display, the first pieces they see are your best jewels; this is a sure way to attract people to your setting, and it will be a great icebreaker.  Catch the customer’s eye effectively by presenting luscious pieces and get people talking around your display.

Last, but not least, encourage customers to try on the pieces by presenting several mirrors to them so that they can confirm that THAT special piece was made for them.  Place the mirrors at different heights to fit everyone, make sure they are not directed towards the lights, creating a very unpleasant blinding flash, and ensure you keep them clean from fingerprints.

Cubic zirconia is a man-made diamond that is considered the best of its type in the market.  For centuries, diamonds have been considered the favorite stone for jewelry, but not everyone can afford one of these precious stones, thus, cubic zirconia came along to delight a huge number of women around the globe.

When set in gold or sterling silver, CZ jewelry, as it is also known, can be worn daily without damaging it, except in some specific cases.  In any case, regular care is always vital if you want your jewelry to remain shiny and bright.

Here you will find some tips to take good care of your beautiful cubic zirconia jewelry or to pass along to your clients, in case you are a distributor buying from a jewelry wholesaler, so that it can be enjoyed and showed off in perfect condition for many years, in every and all daily activities, be they professional or leisure ones:

-    Everyday make-up, as well as face and body powder and lotions, can dull the cubic zirconia’s shine.  To prevent this from happening, remove the CZ jewelry, or do not wear it, before applying any of these beauty products.

-    Cubic zirconia jewelry must be put away well protected around a soft cotton cloth that will prevent scratching on its surface to happen.

-    Today’s busy schedules can make you neglect your jewelry’s regular cleaning.  Do not fall into this trap!  Devote time to it; it can be once every two weeks or once a month, to properly care for your CZ jewelry so that you do not lose it just because of your carelessness.  How often you clean it will depend directly on how much you wear it, so be honest with yourself and take good care of your well-spent money.

By following these simple tips you will be surprised at how beautiful your cubic zirconia jewelry will remain overtime and you will ensure that it is ready to wear any time and on every special occasion when you need to complement your already splendid image with a touch of extra shine!
